    • William Robert NOSWORTHY, Bachelor, age 24, Hairdresser; and Elizabeth FARLEY, Spinster, age 28. Married in the Parish Church in the Parish of Stoke, Plymouth, by license, by H .B. Bisshop, in the presence of William Henry ELFORD and Eliza Jane ELFORD, both of whom resided at 35 Cobourg St.

Based on his birth certificate, William Robert was 21 years and 4 months at the time of his marriage. The marriage certificate states he was age 24. Given the fact that Elizabeth was 28 years old, it is highly possible that he gave an incorrect age to diminish the age difference.

The relationship to the witnesses is unknown. Both William and Elizabeth were residing at 35 Cobourg St., the home of the witnesses, prior to the marriage indicating possibly that they were both not from the area. In the 1901 census, one of their sons, Harry Pickthorn ELFORD, was a hairdresser journeyman. Perhaps, William knew him through the hairdressing business. [5]
