      Community Mourns Montague Barber.

Well-known Montague barber, musician and show bird competitor Chester MOORE, of Murray River, died Friday night. Mr. Moore, 64, was best known for his barber shop which he operated in Montague for nearly 25 years. He studied the craft in Moncton where he lived with his family for more than an year before moving back to the Island. Mr Moore opened his first shop across from the Montague Post Office and later relocated to the south side of the town where he worked until last year. It was during this time that Mr. Moore honed his natural ability to talk and put people at ease, a trait that earned him respect and friendship from many. Though recognized at his shop, he was also well known for his natural musical talents. A self taught musician and active member of the Baptish Church choir, Mr. MOORE's favourite instruments were the guitar, fiddle and mandolin. In recent years, Mr. MOORE became active in raising show birds, especially geese and chickens, and was one of the original members of the P.E.I. Feathered Fanciers Association. Mr. MOORE competed often in local and Maritime fairs. He was also one of the Island's top competitors at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Thought he usually just sent his birds to the Royal, he made the trip with them for the first time last November.
